SANYO Holds Opening Ceremony for a New Indonesian Plant
Increases Production Capacity for Optical Pickups for the Component in Optical Disk Drives
  Tokyo, January 21, 2010 - SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. (SANYO) is pleased to announce that it held an official ceremony today for the opening of a new Indonesian plant of the optical pickup, built in order to meet growing demand.

  This new Indonesian plant was established in April 1, 2008 as the Optical Device Unit of PT. SANYO Jaya Components Indonesia, which produces condensers and digital cameras. The new plant is currently manufacturing approx 3.0 million units per month optical pickups for DVD recording.

  SANYO is the world's largest producer of optical pickups, which are a key component for optical disk drives, such as Blu-ray Disc recorders, DVD players, and computer CD / DVD drives. The new Indonesian plant is an important production site for SANYO, as part of the company's global production strategy for optical pickups. The facility, whose annual production capacity is currently at 24 million units, will be progressively expanded in the future. The company plans to increase present production capacity 4 fold by 2012.
